I am originally from Canton, Kansas, a small farming community in Central Kansas. Following graduation from McPherson College in Kansas, I taught high school science for two years prior to attending veterinary school at Kansas State University.
Following graduation from K-State in 1967, I moved to California and practiced in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California for nearly two years. I joined the staff of Conejo Valley Veterinary Clinic in Thousand Oaks, California as the fourth veterinarian in a mixed animal practice, primarily small animal, equine and exotics. When I retired from full time practice there were thirteen veterinarians on staff.
My professional activities were primarily equine practice, group practice administration, teaching at a local community college and participation in many activities associated with our profession. I am no longer in active practice but enjoy some levels of participation including volunteering for the Eagle Cap Extreme and Iditarod Sled Dog Races.
My wife, Madeline and I, along with a Welsh Corgi "Augie", live in the Powell Butte area. We love Central Oregon!
